Amy is an Affiliate member of the Canadian Dance Teachers' Association (C.D.T.A.), Stage Division. She is currently studying to complete her "Freestyle" Associate teaching qualification with the B.A.T.D. (British Association of Teachers of Dance).
In 2006 Amy joined the professional dance performance troupe "FUNKtion" of which she is now the Assistant Artistic Director. Her choreography has won High Gold in a number of professional dance competitions including the B.A.T.D. Festival and Eastern Canadian Dance Championships in New Brunswick.
In July 2008, Miss Amy performed with FUNKtion in the 2008 Nova Scotia International Tattoo at the Metro Centre. This past November, she participated in professional workshops with internationally renowned teachers and choreographers, as part of the C.D.T.A. Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
As the Hip-Hop Choreographer and Co-Director for the Nova Dance Studio Competition Team, Amy has led her group of students to achieve numerous bronze, silver and gold medal placements at the Millennium dance competition, B.A.T.D. Festival and the Cheer Expo Nationals Dance Division in Halifax. Miss Amy is currently preparing her Junior and Senior Troupe students for the upcoming 2009 competition season which will take them as far as Sydney, N.S., for the "InStep With Cape Breton"
competition.
Amy works in the Public School system as a sign language interpreter who facilitates communication between deaf and hearing individuals. She is simultaneously working on her Bachelor of Arts.
"Miss Amy" has been a core staff member of Nova Dance Studio for 9 years and brings her dynamic teaching style and award winning choreography to all of her Junior, Intermediate and Senior students.
